Rick Myers

Partner

Mr. Myers, based in Shanghai, is a founding partner at DFR Asia.  Prior to starting DFRA, Mr. Myers was General Manager of Asia for the internet appliance company InfoGear Technology Corporation (acquired by Cisco Systems in 2000).  Previous to InfoGear and Cisco Mr. Myers managed the System Software and Developer Relations groups for Apple Computer Asia in Hong Kong, and was also one of the first employees at the localization company Pacifitech Corporation in Japan.

Mr. Myers graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).  He also attended Nagoya University in Japan, where he was a Japanese Ministry of Education Scholar, and Yonsei University in Korea.  He speaks Japanese, Chinese, and other languages.

John Possman

Partner

Mr. Possman, based in Tokyo, is a founding partner at DFR Asia.  Prior to starting DFR Asia, Mr. Possman most recently served as a Vice President of The EMI Group Plc. and Executive Producer of A&R for Toshiba-EMI. Other prior positions include Senior General Manager of the Virgin Label in Japan, which he returned to Japan to help launch; Vice President of International Marketing and A&R at EMI Music Asia in Hong Kong; and Director of International Marketing at the Epic/Sony Records Division of Sony Music Entertainment.

Mr. Possman graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) with honors, and also attended the International Christian University (ICU) in Tokyo on a Pacific Rim Scholarship from the University of California. He speaks fluent Japanese.

John Cox

Strategy

Mr. Cox is Director of Strategy for DFR Asia having joined the group in 2007.  Prior to joining DFRA, he held management positions with several multinational companies before starting his own entrpreneurial ventures in Shanghai.  

Mr. Cox graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Virginia and was born and raised in Asia.  He speaks fluent Mandarin.
